Fellow racers; for those of you who would like to see a couple of completed GT1(true scale) cars and chassis go to www. naste. org. click on to forum, then to Rapid Raceway news. Bill and Monty where kind enough to add Rapid Racewy to their site and I thank them. This is going to reach out to more racers who may be looking for more options in their slot car world. We haven't completed the motor options or tire options yet. Feel free to call me with questions or comments on this new class. Howie 503-252-7692.

Fellow racers: update on the GT1 class. I ran my car on the track the other day and dropped down in gear ratio. I dropped down to a 7 tooth pinion and up to a 43 tooth crown gear. The math says that is 6.14 to 1 ratio. The car pulls out of the corner with more kick and the motor runs pretty cool. I don't have a heat sink on the motor yet. Beau made a heat sink for his motor and we both feel it is well worth the effort in making one. These motors are supposed to run up to 40,000rpm and I know I'm hearing that motor wind up much more on the straight. It would be nice to hit that 40,000rpm. I decided that the front wheels can be down to 15/16". diameter, they still look good and are available. The times with the 6 to 1 gear ratio produced about the same times (4.7's). The track is so built up with rubber that I do not think we are doing the car justice. The track will be cleaned before the OSCAR race on March 14th. Then we should be able to test and tune and get better results after that race. For those of you that will have a GT1 car going after the OSCAR race let me know and we can set up a practice time.

Hey Howie, Are you guys still racing at your place this Saturday the 28th? I can't make the whole race, but maybe I could swing by and get some photos of Beau's car?

I've noticed not much traffic here lately, but it's kinda the same over on our NASTE site also........must be the weather.....

Bill; good hearing from you. Yes we are racing Sat. night, doors open at 5:00pm. That would be great if you would do that for us. You might as well race if you have time. We are racing sportsman and nascar and it would be fun racing with you. Either way I'll buy you a cup of mud, might even throw in a cookie or two or three. By the way, I have e-mail now(just got it last weekend thanks to my daughter in law Julie) and so I need your e-mail address. See you Sat. night. I think the web master here must be busy as there are a lot of postings that are not up on the sight. I'm so grateful to your web sight to allow Rapid Raceway to post the latest news. When my wife retires (I think it is sooner rather than later) then we are going to get up to speed with a digital camera and a lap top and all the bells and whistles. I'm looking forward to it. Side note: after this race I'm actually going to start building the model A.

Bill, thanks for capturing Beau's beauty. It looks as though the NASTE site is THE site for the GT-1 photos. Come on over for a cup of mud anytime.
