Howie -- Thank you for the spelling help... I need all the help I can get.

And your words of encouragement are wonderful to read -- in a sea of critics!

Bad Bob, is that really you on this list? Welcome my friend, I really can't think of racing slot cars without the #1 slot head. Who put the gun to your head? I heard Steve got drafted.

Howie,

One of the most important bits of this formula, to get lots of racers interested, is that the Chassis are a PRODUCTION kit. This affords racers to buy chassis when ever they want and race and have a chance to be competitive.

If you open the chassis to Prototype then the master craftsman will build chassis that are superior to the the "Bolt together" off-the-shelf chassis and remove the potential for the NON CHASSIS BUILDER to compete and win!

We have plenty of Prototype classes. No new racers can really compete in that class because of the limited supply of these one-off Prototype chassis. The Production class allows new racers to purchase a chassis and race.

This, in my opinion, is how to invite new racers and grow our Model Racing Sport/Hobby.

Dave and fellow racers; as stated on a different page, this class is a "modified" production chassis. When we get together and start to see what we need to do to get these chassis to perform to the best we can make them, then the modifications will be noted and every chassis will make the same modification(s). We already know that weight will have to be added. Only those mods. will be allowed. Beau and I already have the Schroler chassis and just looking at them gave us some ideas. The mods. are going to be as simple as possible with no soldering (the kiss method). Every one will be able to make the modifications. We may come out with a kit to do it with. Time will tell. This (I believe) is going to bring closer competition. Like you say, there is still a lot of classes that are proto type for the builders. Leave this class for the ones who like to compete on an equal basis and don't want to build and spend hours doing it. I do not have a fantasy that these cars are going to be as fast as NASCAR, but you do not have to have speed to have a good race and fun.

Fellow racers; thank you all for showing an interest in the new GT1 class. I have no doubt we will pick up a few more racers as time goes by and the word spreads. This GT1 class has already exceeded my expectations as far as driver count goes.
Beau and I are working together on the Scholer chassis. As time goes by, I will post the latest chassis update and rules on this page as we get them dialed in.
It looks as though this GT1 class is going to need it's own night of racing, seperate of NASCAR and Sportsman.

Bill; I need to stick to the two chassis that is on the list. I'm trying to keep it simple and with few choices. That is an interesting chassis, it would be fun to try one. Thanks for the input Bill. I have a GT1 car all done with the Scholer chassis. I'm bringing it to your function Thursday (2-19-'09). See ya soon.

That's cool Howie. I haven't seen where the Avant chassis are available yet anyway.

Great Howie, I'm looking forward to seeing your car in race trim! We'll see you tomorrow night! Sounds like we may have a really good turn out, especially for a Thursday night! ---------------------Bill

I came accross a Body that I think is a legal one.. IMSA Mustang GTP by Monogram.. This car was raced in the late eighties and I remember these cars racing with the Jaguar that are listed as legal bodies.
I have also built up a chassis with easy to build side pans on the Scholer chassis.. Howie is going to look at it and see if this the way we want to go.. The built chassis weigh in at 7 oz.. 8-9 with body.. This weight is in the ball park for a hard body chassis.. ;) Larry
